Stupid Little Fishing Tips That I Think Help

1. I like black snaps better than chrome snaps. I think they catch more fish.
2. Generally, no snap is better than using one except for item 3.
3. Being able to quickly change hard bait colors when bass are chasing can dramatically increase your number of catches.

4. Spinning reels twist line. Good braid is so limp it doesn’t matter for a long time.
5. Braid can slip when tied directly to a spool. A layer or two of mono tied to the spool with an arbor not, and the braid tied to the mono cures that problem.
6. 15lb braid will cast a light lure a lot further than 15lb mono.
7. Braid will quickly get tangled in treble hooks. Stop and go topwater (poppers) more than most.
8. A short mono leader for topwater or fluorocarbon leader for sub surface reduces braid tangling in trebles.

9. Sometimes clear line will catch more fish than braided line. Sometimes a fluorocarbon leader will help.
10. A wacky rig has more resistance to the water, so it falls more vertically than swings back towards you.
11. A Texas rig goes in and out of cover easier, and it may cast a little further if reaching out to spooky fish.

12. A back to back uniknot doesn’t slip when joining plastic (mono/fluoro) lines to braid. An FG knot is harder to tie, but it also doesn’t slip, its stronger, and it goes through guides easier.

13. A properly snelled flipping hook can cause the hook point to kick forward/out during a hookset when the sinker hits the hook eye.
