General Update

I had a member of the old forum reach out to me because I had not posted here in a while.  I haven’t had much to write, and I didn’t want to fill the blog up with garbage posts.

I have only been out fishing a couple times, and it was no big deal. Dave and I went out and fished the canal several weeks back. We caught five fish between us, and I broke off a three fish before switching rods. We had our usual dollar/dollar/dollar side bet. First fish, most fish, biggest fish. The only twist was we had a challenge. Any of those bets we achieved with a couple spin cast combos that came out of my dad’s hardware store as-is was double. Mine had bad line so Dave got the double for first fish, and I had to switch to another rod.

The other time I was solo for maybe an hour, and didn’t catch anything.

Neither trip inspired me to write fishing report or come up with some new insight into fishing to write about.

While I have started writing to promote my business, I don’t like to write stuff on the BLOG site JUST to put out advertisements, or just to have some filler. Overall, I have been pretty busy between taking care of my mom, dealing with my dad’s estate, taking care of my wife, and trying to take care of my business.

I have been working on projects. I have a new CNC project mill (Bridgeport series 1) in the shop and a new CNC router for sheet goods, I don’t like to post about that stuff without also posting something fishing related.  I did some cleanup in the shop and moved the turret lathe to what I hope will be its working locations when I get done restoring it.  I sold my Silverado and my Jeep last year, and bought a new F250, but I think I wrote about that before.  Carmax gave me the best price on the Jeep.  A private party bough the Silverado and they told me they are happy with it.

I’ve bought a few new (to me) guns, but this is a fishing site.  I don’t like to write about other stuff if I don’t also have some fishing stuff to write about.  Its starting to look like a used boat store out front.  Not only do I have Gary’s old boat and Dave’s old boat, I have also acquired Triton176’s old Triton, and Rock Hopper is still laying upside down out front.  On top of that one of my dad’s boats its parked next to the shop, and I need to go get the rest of them eventually.

While I did write about recovering my dad’s diesel trucks and getting them sold there is a lot more to deal with there.  Sedans, a coupe, another couple trucks, a 1942 Jeep, Motorhome, 5th Wheel, Bronco, Van, baots, etc etc etc … all need to be hauled into town and sold.  I may keep the Bronco and fix it up, but I’m not sure during what time.  I don’t have much time available these days.

Oh, yeah.  I got a free truck.  Not from my dad’s estate.  I’ve been managing the properties for my parents trust, and a renter had to leave behind a truck they were working on.  They hauled away a lot of commercial equipment, and just didn’t have room on the truck.  I told them if they left it they either had to give me the title or pay my cost to haul it away.  They gave me the title.  Some of you may know I owned rental properties before.  This renter was the easiest renter to deal with I’ve ever had.  It was commercial, not residential, so maybe professionalism was a factor.  Anyway, they were a very easy renter to deal with.  Anybody need four adjacent commercial lots in Dateland with a couple buildings on them and large fenced yard?   For sale or lease.  1565 Ave 64E

I am planning to head out fishing with my son on April Fool’s Day. Maybe we will have something fun and interesting to write about.

And now for the commercial.  I just introduced a new mold yesterday.  The Small Spoon Jig.  Okay it’s a slightly larger variation of the Tiny Spoon Jig.
